How to Use Gel Polish

Part 1: Prepping Your Nails
Cut, File and shape your nails: You can create round, square, pointy, almond, or oval nails, depending on your preference.
Use cuticle remover: Use a cuticle stick to push back any skin off of your nail plate. Dipped a cotton ball in acetone and remove any remaining oil or debris from your nail.
Apply your base layer: Apply a very thin layer of your base coat to your nails. Thinner layer than you would with standard nail polish. Be careful and avoid getting the gel on your fingers. Cure the gel polish under a nail lamp (UV lamp for 1 min, LED lamp for 30 secs).
Part 2: Applying the Color (UV lamp for 2 mins, LED lamp for 30-60 secs)
Apply 2 thin layers: Once your base layer has dried completely, apply another extremely thin layer. Make sure to paint over the tip of your nail as well as over the surface to seal the gel and avoid chipping.
Cure each layer under a nail lamp (UV lamp for 2 mins, LED lamp for 30-60 secs).
Apply your top gel: Coat your nails completely in your top gel and cure the gel polish under a nail lamp (UV lamp for 1 min, LED lamp for 30 secs).
Wipe nails with rubbing alcohol to remove residue.
Part 3: Removing Gel Nails
File off the top layer: This will take away the shine. Only once the shine is removed can you move forward in removing the gel.
Avoid picking the polish off your nails. That can remove layers of your nail in the process, leaving them brittle and dry.
Cover cotton pad in acetone and wrap around each nail for about 10 minutes. Check if ready, if not, leave a few minutes more.
Use a cuticle stick to push the gel off your nail.
